Weisenborn Families

The start of the 2022-23 is just around the corner.  We are looking forward to the return of our 8th graders and meeting our 7th graders.

Some information that students and parents need to be made aware of are:

1. We have a new assistant principal.  Mr. Richard Thompson has joined our administrative team to replace Mr. McCollum.  Mr. Thompson has many years experience as a middle school teacher and administrator.  He is going to be a great addition to our team.  Mr. Thompson will work with all students and with last names A-K.

2. Our bell schedule has changed slightly.  Warrior Period will be after the 3rd period rather than at the end of the day. This change was made in order to make the time more productive for students and staff.  Warrior Period serves two purposes. First, teachers lead students in restorative circles on Monday and Friday.  This is an opportunity for students and teachers to build relationships and create a sense of community.  Second, students receive help from teachers in checking their grades, getting organized and prioritizing work that needs to be completed.  On Wednesdays and Thursdays, students may use Warrior Period time to get academic assistance from teachers.

3. We are no longer issuing each student an agenda/planner.  The vast majority of students did not use the agenda and/or lost it.  If you would feel your student will use and benefit from the use of an agenda/planner, please purchase one for them.

4. All students will be issued a Chromebook and charging cord during the first week of school.  These items belong to the district and will be returned at the end of the school year.  Please help us reinforce to students that their device must be charged every night and brought to school every day. We suggest that students not bring their charging cord to school, as they have a tendency to get lost.  A fully charged device will last for the entire school day.

The goal of the junior high is to create a partnership with families. The success of our students requires us to work together to make junior high an experience that prepares students for the next step at Wayne High School.  Please do not hesitate to contact teachers, administrators, counselors or the main office when needed. We are here to help!

I will communicate with families regularly with announcements, updates and reminders.  In addition, the school website is always kept updated as well as the Weisenborn Facebook page
